Final Magazine

Final draft for contents page

With this contents page from Q magazine, this is very similar to a plan that I had come up with when I started to think of what I wanted my contents page to look like. The large images draws attention from the text however the magazine have still managed to fit in loads of information and content in the small space.

Draft layout for contents page

For the contents page, Kerrang! magazine have a very original style which has become their house style over the years. By featuring a extract from the editor, it lets the reader know that their is a personalized touch to the magazine and the main image at the top brings attention from the writing, making it look easier to read and more relaxed.

Final draft for front cover

For the final draft of the cover, I decided to go back to NME's style as it works well and manages to put the point across. Although the lettering still overlaps the model, you can still see him through the gaps of the lettering and the circle on top of the NME masthead overlaps as the magazine knows that the customer will already recognise the logo by its iconic bold red letters.

In this issue of Spin magazine, it uses a minimal layout to bring attention to the main singer however the masthead doesn't fit correctly on the page which I would think about altering. If I was to use this layout for my magazine, I would make sure the artist overlapped the logo so I could bring full attention to her and it would look like a more fitting arrangement.

Final draft for double page spread

Although the layout may look a little boring, I feel with an interesting picture and sidebar the design could work well as its easy to manipulate when creating the magazine as well as  being easy to read for the consumer. The only thing I would think about changing is the pull quote as it is spread over two pages which I think doesn't bring enough attention to it, but I like the white writing contrasting with the black box.

Draft layout for double page spread

From this copy of Q magazine, it shows an original style of layout for a double spread which isn't often seen in many articles. The title is spread across the edges of the page and boxes are used to close off the texts to make it seem quite stylish. The pull quote is quite a similar size to the rest of the article and doesn't really stand out which I want to include in my magazine.
